Evidence-Based MSK Rehabilitation for Neck, TMJ, Shoulder, and Low Back Pain
Jovan Mirkovic is a Senior Physiotherapist at Kinesis Clinic with a strong focus on musculoskeletal (MSK) rehabilitation and return-to-performance care. After completing his physiotherapy education in Serbia, he gained two years of focused experience in sports athlete rehabilitation before relocating to Dubai in 2016. Since then, he has developed a specialised clinical interest in treating complex movement-related pain using evidence-based assessment and highly individualised treatment planning.
At Kinesis Clinic, Jovan works with active individuals, athletes, and everyday patients seeking long-term relief from persistent pain, improved movement confidence, and a structured pathway back to training and daily life.
A Performance-Informed Approach with Strong Sports Insight
With broad involvement across multiple sports and with a particular interest in martial arts, Jovan understands the physical demands of high-load training and repetitive movement patterns. His rehabilitation approach blends symptom relief with progressive strength, control, and capacity-building, helping patients return to sport and life with better mechanics and reduced risk of recurrence.
Areas of Clinical Focus
Jovan’s work centres around three key MSK areas:
Neck Pain and TMJ Dysfunction
Jovan takes a holistic TMJ approach, viewing jaw pain and dysfunction as part of a wider system that includes the neck, thoracic spine, breathing patterns, neuromuscular control, tissue health, and lifestyle factors. His goal is to reduce pain and restore coordinated jaw function by addressing contributing factors such as stress, sleep quality, chewing habits, education, and self-management strategies.
Shoulder Pain and Movement Dysfunction
From athletic overload to day-to-day postural strain, Jovan supports patients with shoulder pain by improving joint mechanics, muscle coordination, and movement control to build resilient function rather than short-term fixes.
Low Back Pain Rehabilitation
Jovan views the lower back as part of a global movement system, assessing how the spine connects with the pelvis, hips, and lower limb function. His rehabilitation protocol is typically delivered in clear phases:
- Phase 1: Pain management and patient education
- Phase 2: Mobility and motor control retraining
- Phase 3: Strength, endurance, spinal load capacity, and return to normal daily and sport activities
This structured process supports long-term recovery and helps reduce recurrence by rebuilding confidence and physical capacity.
Advanced Tools to Support Recovery
Jovan integrates modern techniques into his care where appropriate, including:
- Dry Needling for muscle pain, trigger points, and neuromuscular facilitation
- Ongoing advanced learning in Osteopathy and P-DTR, supporting a whole-system view of pain, movement, and recovery
